Upon finding these stones at a nearby beach, I did a little research online and discovered that there are many people and websites devoted to the mystical properties associated with "Holey" Stones. Many cultures have attributed various properties to these naturally worn stones.  The stones I have have been worn by the earth and each one has at least one hole which passes all the way through the stone.  The properties associated with these holes range from being windows into the soul to doorways to other dimensions.  But don't take my word for it, get your own and decide for yourself.

This sphere was cut from a piece of agate in which part of the agate was not fully formed. In the first picture you can see a part of the sphere that is still rough and semi solid.

This sphere was cut from a whole thunder egg from Madras, OR.  The cut was made slightly off center to preserve part of the matrix next to the banded agate core.  The overall effect looks like a globe of the earth.

Cut and shaped here in our shop, this sphere as a dull and rough finish since sandstone does not take a polish.

This piece was collected near Valley Springs, CA and was cut in a free from cab with a flat base, rounded sides with corners and one end was left rough.  One of the nicer pieces we picked up on that trip.
